It actually works like a charm.! I have used it for a couple of gigs with very good results.

So was it easy to get this system going.? No, it was a hell.I took me about 5-6 evenings to understand the software and make it to trigger in the right way.building after defining it. A favorite light setting.which could be used between the songs can also be triggered from a special combination of drum hits.

I have even setup a blackout if I do a choke on a cymbal. You can still add light flashes separately.when hitting a cymbal etc.regardless from the kick beat sequence. The kick will control the scene and step further to next scene on kick beat number two. Each song in my system has its on complete sequence of scenes.just to pick the right song and start to kick.

Then, go to External Control window > Hit the Plus icon, and youll be able to add a new note. In freestyler it is possible remap the midi signal to what I want it to do. In Lightkey, go to Create a New Cue > Make A New Button > Call it Cue 1. In the Freestyler app.I am able to define all scenes.and get them to trigger in sync a from the kick beat. (I have about 18 LED Par 64 lights, 2 Ledbars, 4 moving heads, LEDStripes with DIY midi controller in all drums, Dmx laser and a smoke system.)

On the PC I am running the application Freestyler DMX.together with an USB to DMX interface. I came up with my own solution.I have a cheap midi interface connected between my 2Box module and a PC system.

(The set speed will determine how fast it will run through the scenes) So the midi implementation is pretty useless in these kind of cheap light controllers. However it can trigger complete chases of scenes.but after a "on" hit on the snare.the scenes will run through without any trigger control. Example like first kick beat: scene 1.second kick beat: scene 2 and so on and then restart when reaching the end of the sequence. E.g you can't make it to trigger scenes from a kick drum over midi. Most light controllers don't support steps in a chase over midi. The gear I have right now is a DMXIS/ Showbuddy and Chauvet lights. I then found a controller with a midi input and thought it would work.and it did.for a half hour. I first tried the DMXIS program to try to accomplish my task but I had issues with it recognizing the midi input. I'm using preprogrammed lights (DMXIS/Showbuddy) for most of the light show but I wanted a simple, separate system just to give a little movement with the beat. I've come to the conclusion that the controller is defective (because of another tweeky issue as well) but how do I really know? I'm assuming that almost no one gets into the midi end of it. I was happy with it working on my desk but when I moved the gear back to the kit, it no longer worked.Ĭhauvet tech help was worthless. I then went to plan B and used the kick to trigger one scene, the snare another etc so they would "kind of" flash. So, just build a chase that makes the light flicker for how long you need itThat is the road I started down I wrote a chase with several blank scenes but I couldn't get the midi signal to trigger it.
